Maduro in Venezuela will be blocked for 10 days : Venezuela , Elon Musk

Maduro in Venezuela will be blocked for 10 days due to a disagreement with Musk about an election.

Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro has announced plans to prohibit the social media site X, previously known as Twitter, within his country for ten days. This move follows a heated dispute with the site's proprietor, Elon Musk, regarding the disputed presidential election, in which Maduro alleged victory.

Maduro confirmed his decision to block the platform Thursday, stating that he has reached an agreement with the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) to suspend operations. He has criticized Musk for breaking the platform's policies by encouraging “hatred, fascism (and) civil war.”

This decision by Maduro follows an intense exchange between him and Musk concerning a Venezuelan presidential election that Maduro has declared a win, yet which is disputed by the United States and other Western nations, who argue for Venezuela's loss.

On X, Musk has declared Maduro an undeserving leader, accusing him of orchestrating significant election fraud. In response, Maduro has charged Musk with plotting his country's downfall.

Last week, the United States declared that Maduro did not secure the majority of votes in Venezuela's recent election. An opposition figure is currently on the run due to concerns for her personal safety.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Edmundo González Urrutia won the presidential election in Venezuela on July 28. This is clear to the United States, especially to the people of Venezuela, based on strong evidence.

Maduro's administration dismissed the US claim as absurd. Venezuela's ambassador to the United States accused the US of plotting a coup.

Violent protests erupted in Venezuela. The electoral commission, controlled by Maduro's followers, declared him the winner with 51% of the votes. This caused outrage among the people. They took to the streets to demonstrate against the election results.

The election was pivotal for both Venezuela's political system and its economy, which have been grappling with difficulties. The election's results could significantly influence their future. Numerous young supporters of the opposition have expressed their intention to emigrate if Maduro were to win, highlighting the severe economic downturn and harsh crackdowns under his leadership.

A cohesive opposition force, led by Edmundo Gonzalez, enjoyed widespread support in pre-election surveys. Despite their differences, they came together to form a coalition, seen as the most formidable challenge to the ruling party in 25 years.

Telegram - CEO's arrest.

Telegram will now provide law authorities with some bad actor info following the CEO's arrest. Telegram, a messaging app, has made some additional safety and user privacy concessions following the arrest of CEO and founder Pavel Durov in France last month. French prosecutors detained and questioned Durov over alleged illegal behaviour on the platform, including trafficking and gang activity, as well as the company's purported refusal to turn over investigation-related data. Later, after the investigation was completed, he was freed from police custody with a $5.56 million bail. The probe spurred discussion about online criminal conduct and free speech, but the authorities' worries were not entirely unexpected. Thanks in significant part to encryption technology and assurances of user privacy, the app has gathered over 950 million users over the years. After being apprehended, Telegram declared that Durov had "nothing to conceal" and found it "ridiculous...

Putin threatens that if Ukraine's long-

Putin  threatens  that  if  Ukraine's  long-range  missile  limits  are  eased,  Russia  will  be  "at  war"  with  NATO. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has issued a warning, stating that Moscow will interpret NATO's approval of Ukraine's use of longer-range missiles to attack within his nation as the bloc's direct involvement in the conflict. Putin's remarks coincide with the notion that, more than two years after Russia's invasion, the US and Western officials are more amenable to the prospect of removing limitations on Ukraine's use of US-supplied long-range weaponry, something Kyiv has vocally advocated for. Putin said to reporters on Thursday that "this will indicate that NATO countries—the United States and European countries—are at war with Russia." If this is the case, we will respond appropriately to the threats posed to us, keeping in mind the shift in the conflict's fundamental nature. U...
